Project Restaurant - UK Restaurant Leader Report 2011

UK restaurant businesses report positive like-for-like trading results for the first half of 2011, but
revenue growth has been mainly supported by price rises. Food inflation is at its highest level for two years and restaurants are still adjusting to the impact of the rise in VAT in January of this year. Low-mid fast casual and new fast food concepts will be most insulated from short-medium term pressure on consumer spending. Intense competition in the marketplace will require restaurant operators to i) invest in delivering exceptional service and ii) innovate to capture and retain consumer interest.
